Tarot Reading Ethics
Reading for other people is a privilege. A few principles keep it kind, honest, and genuinely helpful.
Core principles
- Consent. Only read for someone who has asked. Don't read about a third party who hasn't agreed (an ex, a colleague, a crush).
- Privacy. What comes up in a reading stays private.
- Empower, don't frighten. Offer perspective and choices, never doom or dependency.
- Stay in your lane. You're not a doctor, lawyer, therapist, or financial adviser — refer people to real professionals for those questions.
Questions to avoid answering
- Health / diagnosis — never predict illness or death.
- Pregnancy — don't confirm or predict it.
- "When exactly will…" — tarot isn't a clock; avoid false precision.
- Anything about a non-consenting third party's private life.
Reading for minors
Take extra care — keep it light and positive, and defer to a parent or guardian. When in doubt, don't.
If someone discloses they're in crisis, gently point them to professional help or a
local helpline. See reading responsibly.
