Cleansing & Caring for Your Deck
"Cleansing" a deck means resetting it — a fresh start before or after readings. Whether you view it as energy work or simply a grounding ritual, it's easy and needs nothing fancy.
Common ways to cleanse
- Shuffle & reorder — return the deck to its original order, then reshuffle. Simple and effective.
- Knock or tap — a firm tap on the stack, a traditional "clearing" gesture.
- Fresh air or moonlight — leave the deck out overnight.
- A cleansing card — place a bright card (like The Sun) on top to "reset" it.
Avoid water, and be careful with smoke or salt near cards — they can damage the
cardstock. Keep it gentle.
Storing your deck
Keep cards dry and out of direct sun. A cloth wrap, box, or pouch protects them and, for many readers, marks the deck as something set apart. There are no strict rules — do what helps you treat the deck with care.
